How much does a plumber cost in the Hamptons?
Nobody local publishes a rate, so the honest answer is the national one plus the drive. Plumbers charge $45–200 an hour by experience — an apprentice $45–90, a journeyperson $60–110, a master $80–200, a residential average of $80 — with a service call of $100–250 that usually includes the first hour, a trip fee of $50–300 on its own, flat-rate simple calls of $100–400 and an average job of $340 ($182–500), per one national guide’s 2026 figures. After hours runs time-and-a-half to triple, or $300–400-plus flat. The three Hamptons companies we checked say call for a quote; one offers 18-month 0% financing and one ran a $0 diagnostic promotion in late summer 2026. Plumbers who work the far ends of the fork charge for the drive whether the line says so or not.

The rate
New York has no state plumbing licence and no state rate card; the trade is licensed county by county and priced company by company, and the Hamptons companies price by the job. One national cost guide’s 2026 figures are the only published numbers, and they are printed here as what they are: national ranges, a floor for reading a local quote, not the quote.

What the Hamptons companies publish
Not rates. Hardy Plumbing & Heating, working the North and South Forks from Riverhead, publishes 18-month 0% financing on credit approval, office hours of 7:30 to 4 and a 24-hour emergency line; Weber & Grahn in Hampton Bays lists its East End towns and a 24-hour line; the company that Flanders Heating & Air became was running a $0 diagnostic fee from August 20 to September 18, 2026. None of the three publishes an hourly rate, a service-call fee or a winterization price, and neither does anyone else we could read.
What moves the number here
- The drive. The fork is 40 miles long; a plumber based in Hampton Bays working Montauk is charging for the road whether the invoice says so or not.
- The hour. A Sunday in February at a frozen house is the top of every multiplier; the same leak on a Tuesday in May is the bottom.
- The house. Six baths, a pool house and an outdoor shower is not a three-bath house; a well with a pressure tank is not a meter.
- The job. A burst pipe averages about $500 ($200–3,000); a water heater $800–2,500 installed for a tank; a boiler $3,604–8,445; a well pump $975–2,821; a whole-house repipe $8,000–13,500.
- The permit. Water heaters, boilers and gas lines are permitted work, and the Town of East Hampton’s desk ran 16–20 weeks behind in 2026.
What a fair invoice contains
The rate and the hours, or the flat price and what it covers; the parts, by name; the call-out or trip fee, once; the permit and who filed it; the warranty on the work; and, for a winter job, what let the pipe freeze. A plumber who states all of it before starting is the plumber; we ask before we send you.
